Turtle Dunes Country Club
Acapulco, Mexico

“Turtle Dunes has been one of the most gratifying projects I have been a part of.  It has not only given us the opportunity to create a strategically interesting golf course for each level of player, but we have been able to restore a unique landscape with sand dunes that long ago dominated the site. This has been a significant part of the project and I'm sure will be one of the reasons everyone will fall in love with this place." - Tripp Davis

The Story

Tripp Davis and Associates was commissioned in 2008 to design a new course at the Acapulco Princess Resort in Acapulco, Mexico.  Working diligently with Troon Golf and developer Global Hospitality Investments, LLC, Tripp Davis and Associates addressed a variety of site issues throughout the completion of the construction documents.  The land for the golf course was historically coastal sand dunes and the design for the new Turtle Dunes has restored and integrated sand dunes into the course.  The vision of Global Hospitality was to create a world class 18 hole golf course and practice facilities, while integrating new resort accommodations.

The golf course project was part of a broad approach to renovate and reinvigorate the entire Acapulco Princess and Pierre Marques Resort - historically one of the world's great destinations.  Construction began February of 2010 and the official opening was February 2012.
